Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring (ALLARM)

  • Implement workshops to teach communities how to use biological and water quality assessment techniques to monitor stream health.

  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of water quality monitoring workshops for ALLARM’s partner organizations.

  • Conduct research and create community-based materials (e.g. fact sheet for communities concerned about fracking and drinking water).

  • Research and develop resource guides (Guide to US Aquatic Citizen Science: Volunteer Monitoring).

  • Perform laboratory work, including quality assurance verification for volunteer water quality monitoring organizations

  • Conduct monthly chemical and physical water quality monitoring of a local stream.

  • Research and test water quality monitoring techniques appropriate for volunteer use.

  • Facilitate weekly staff meetings.

  • Write articles for annual organizational publication.

  • Mentor and train new ALLARM student staff.
